Replacement and upgrade of the Alkatuff Plant three (3) Cell Cooling Tower.
Retro fit an increased capacity cooling tower for future expansion of the plant on to an existing basin that has a small footprint than the new cooling tower.
Complete cells excluding the fan stacks were constructed prior to a 12-day outage for the change over.
The complexity of this project was the detailed planning and methodology to complete the cooling tower change over.
The removal of the existing BAC double sided cross-flow without damaging the basin. BZW has experience in craning out existing tower in sections to protect the concrete basin as any damage would result in no change of completing the changeover within the 12-day outage window.
